Much is said about the importance of movement and physical activity in general but what about the negative vacuum effect of the society we live in?
The music is still on. It always has been. But it seems people are more reluctant to dance these days? And when we do dance, it seems a little more ... controlled or less expressive.
This opens a myriad of possibilities and related theories but perhaps it's as simple as being attached to the old 'ego' friend a bit too closely. Caring too much what other people think. And it's a debilitating sleeping giant. Everyone now carries a live-recording video only too willing to press go anytime and it can't help but to have a 'calming' effect on behaviour. This is great for accountability with regards to poor actions but sad for individual expression.
Perhaps we're also desensitised to actually 'doing' things due to being readily exposed to high-level feats in almost everything at the click of a finger? This technology can be like a pit bull - the right man's best friend or the wrong man's worst enemy. It can be a wonderful teaching and learning tool but it can also have such negative consequences when it comes to actually getting off your butt and engaging in fruitful activity. One thing's for sure - it's here to stay. And it's clearest most in today's youth.
It sure is a funny old world we're living in. Anyway, let's keep dancing huh.
